Where is the Third Coast Cookers tent?
We are located at B-241 & B-243 on Garden Avenue, very close to Kirby and the old Astroworld entrance.
What time are you serving food?
Dinner is served each night from 5:00-7:00 pm. The serving line will be broken down right at 7:00 to allow for more room to dance. There will be a limited amount of food after 7:00. Please make sure your guests are aware.
Can my children come to the Third Coast Cookers tent?
Children are allowed on the cook off grounds and inside the Third Coast Cookers tent until 7pm each night. After 7pm, the tent is 21 years old and over.
What is the difference between a VIP badge and a Guest wristband?
Your VIP badge will get you access into the tent all three nights of the cook off. A VIP badge will also allow you to be admitted into the tent ahead of any guests that may be in line. A guest wristband is only good for either Friday or Saturday night.
What am I responsible for as a Sponsor?
Sponsors are responsible for their guests' actions and should be sure that their guests do not drink too much and then try to drive. We try our best to provide a safe and fun environment, but we need everyone's help to do so. The members of Third Coast Cookers, along with all Sponsors and their guests, will not be held liable for the actions of any other Sponsor or that Sponsors guests.
Will there be security at the tent?
We will have a uniformed City of Houston police officer at the door along with members of Third Coast Cookers whose sole responsibility is to make sure you and your guests are safe. If anyone in the security detail asks a guest to leave, please help us facilitate their removal. We do NOT want anyone to try to drive after having too much to drink. Please notify any Third Coast Cooker team member and they will be glad to call a cab or get an Uber or Lyft.
What else is going on during cook-off hours?
Half price carnival pack pricing ends the Saturday of cook-off. The carnival starts during BBQ and doesn't end until the Rodeo ends on March 20th. Catch a ride on La Grande Wheel - the Western Hemisphere's largest portable Ferris wheel - enjoy kiddie rides, or find something in-between. Ride the 1,700-foot gondola Sky Ride across Reliant Park and see the view from 58 feet up. All the best carnival foods, including caramel apples, funnel cakes and cotton candy, are within easy reach.
The Garden, located in the center of the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, provides live music with room for dancing. Live entertainment will be provided all three days of the contest for a fun family event.
Rockin' Bar-B-Que Saloon
During the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, visit The Rockin' Bar-B-Que Saloon, located on the north side of the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest (intersection of Astrodome Way and Chuckwagon Way). In this tent, you and your friends can dance the night away to live and DJ music. Or, if you prefer, take a seat and relax on the outside patio area and enjoy a beer. Either way, this venue is a must stop for the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest visitors. Free admission to the public once you are on the Contest grounds – no tent pass needed.
